Prof. Xu has in-depth research on urinary calculi, male reproductive system tumors, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and urinary tract infections (UTIs). Proficient in urological minimally invasive surgery, having independently completed nearly 10,000 cases of various minimally invasive procedures.

    • Supervised 36 master's and doctoral graduates.
    • Published 13 SCI-indexed papers as first author or corresponding author, with the highest impact factor of 11.492, and 22 papers in Chinese core medical journals.
    • Led 8 provincial and municipal research projects.
    • Awarded the Third Prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2008 (first completer).
    • Participated as a principal investigator in 10 international multicenter clinical studies.
    • Contributed to the compilation of the "Guidelines for Urinary Management and Clinical Rehabilitation of Patients with Spinal Cord Injury," "Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Overactive Bladder," "Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia," and "Chinese Expert Consensus on Botulinum Toxin for Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction."
    • Serves as an editorial board member of the "Chinese Journal of Urology" and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the "Chinese Journal of Functional Urology."
    • Since 2016, clinical papers have been cited annually in the European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines on the surgical management of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
